John
(and Matilda), son of David (and Jane), son of Achilles (and Rose), son of Bryan (and Elizabeth). Our ancestor John may have been one of David and Jane's younger children. David left Va. for Indiana territory in 1811 when John would have been about 10 years old. A Hopkins county sensus lists Indiana as the birthplace of our ancestor, John (suspicious typo?). David named his son, John, as an heir in 1830, indicating John was living. Also, our ancestor John named his first son David, customary for paternal grandfather. Our ancestor, John, we know was a physician. William's son, James Madison, became a physician. It is possible John followed William, his older brother to Texas 4 years behind him, to the same county.
